6 ways to deal with Fear

You are belittled by your fears, otherwise you were born to rule land and sea, tame monsters and beasts, stand eye to eye with the eye of the storm, encourage what is right and condemn whats wrong.

But you lie there paralyzed in fear, trembling at the very thought of discomfort, choosing mediocrity over greatness. Blinded by fear, devoid of logic, you fail to understand that this fear doesn’t lie outside, it lies within.

It diminishes the luminescence of your soul. It impairs your ability to say whats right and speak up against whats wrong. Fear prevents you from appreciating the worthy and rebuking the unworthy. It makes you prefer silence over words, solitude over love, stagnancy over discovery, your smart phone over a real conversation, ignorance over greetings.

Fear cripples your individuality, turning you into a generic mortal, where you do what everybody else does and say what everybody wants to hear. Fear of opinions molds you into a people pleaser, and before you realize, all your actions are directed towards justifying yourself in someone else’s eyes.

Frozen in fear, no smiles no tears, how will life be worthwhile, if you only expect a path, too clear.

Fear simplifies your life in a certain way too. It convinces you that you are a no good loser. As a result you stop working on your talents, depriving yourself from the greatness which you were meant to achieve. Living with fear is as good as not living at all. The days fly by with you sitting and counting the obstacles you dodged, the embarrassments you avoided and the chances you didn’t take instead of the discoveries you made, hearts you won and the challenges you overcome. Here our some basic was to repel fear or get used to it:

1. Never respect it too much– Fear has the tendency of growing on you exponentially, if you give it even little importance.

2. Drown it in a bowl of confidence– Confidence is built during peace so that it can be used to destroy fear at the time of war.

3. Don’t surround yourself with wimpish weaklings– These perpetually shivering creatures are even afraid of their own shadows. They will make you see the ghost in nothingness and hear shrills in absolute silence. These people cant do something themselves so they tell you that you cant do it too.

4. Constantly nourish your instincts– Life wont get simpler you have to make yourself smarter. Your instincts help you repel fear naturally. Although fear is one of the earliest acquired habit, your instincts can be be nourished to overcome it and even repel it in the future.  This can be achieved by getting to know yourself better through meditation and simulating and acclimatizing to thrills through adventurous indulgences.

5. You cant run from something within you– Your fear lies within you, it might get activated by extrinsic elements but fear is a part of your response to these triggers. Hence, it is meaningless to run from something you perpetually carry on your back, cliched as it might sound but you are better off facing your fears.

6. If you cant kill it, learn to live with it– Fear like any emotion contains energy, if you can align with this nervous energy, you can actually use it to your advantage. Learning to live with fear involves watching fear rise and fall, noticing the heart beat fast before slowing down, getting lost for breathe and being patient till it gets normal  and then carrying on with your task.

Fear sabotages your dreams and cripples your quest of blossoming into the best form of yourself. Fear might also hinder your everyday working. Therefore it is essential to start controlling fear before it takes control of you.
