The Healthiest Breakfast

On my quest to discover the healthiest breakfast I have tried most things from yogurt with fruits to bacon and eggs. Before jumping into what I feel is the healthiest breakfast, I would like to elaborate on what healthy means to me.

As we all the breakfast is the kind of meals, it provides you the fuel to run on for the entire day, hence it goes without saying that you should focus most on this meal. Yet people seem to take its importance lightly, merely having a cup of tea with some cookies or a couple of boiled egg or some heavily marketed cereal. These are the ones getting late for work, college or school.

On the other hand we have the chola bhaturas, ghee parathas and aloo puri ( Indian breakfasts with oil as their main ingredient). These might give the tongue sensations but are not ideal if you have them everyday.

So the healthiest breakfast should comprise all the essential nutrients ( proteins, carbohydrates, fiber and healthy fats along with others). It should be heavy enough to help you throughout the day and tasty enough for you to enjoy it while eating.

My healthiest breakfast

I have been keeping myself fit since 8 years. I might not have the best bodybuilders physique ( Cuz I don’t want it) or be a professional athlete (I secretly am) but I am sure all of you don’t aim at being any of them but still want to lose weight or be stronger.

Whatever your goal might be I have a common breakfast that everyone can enjoy. The healthiest breakfast comprises of (the ones who are too keen can refer the links I have attached to each ingredient for more info):

Oats– Yes those tasteless white pieces of grain which make you want to have mechanical jaw when you get tired of chewing.  They are very high on fiber and have cholesterol lowering, blood sugar stabilizing, immunity enhancing and cardiovascular supportive benefits. Whey Protein– Whey protein assist in building muscles( not like Heman) that we all need. It helps release anabolic hormones and also contains amino acids which assist the body in carrying out its day to day function optimally. For more you can see further benefits of whey protein here.

Almonds– These are typically rich in magnesium and help optimize heart health. Here are some other benefits of almonds

Dry Dates (Chuara)- Other than reminding me of teacher at school dry dates are rich dietary fibers with a very wide spectrum of health benefits.  They provide instant energy and contain a very good mineral profile which assists your body to function optimally. The healthiest breakfast preparation

Just boil some oats in water for 2-3 minutes. Add the nuts and dates and slices of amla(use sweetened amla as shown in the picture, wash it and use as it tends to be too sweet). Let it cool for 7 minutes after mixing, now add the whey protein, and some milk if you think its too dry.  Savor the healthiest breakfast.

Sustaining Change

When you move towards health and wellness, the results that you get depends on how long you can sustain the process. A smart person doesn’t take extreme steps as they are hard to maintain over a period of time and change needs time to exhibit itself fully.

So a bland boring breakfast would do good to you, but you will start hating it after a week. Your unhappy psychology wont allow the nutrients from affecting you as much when you are forcing the food down. Always look for tasty ways to make food healthy, and healthy ways of making food tasty.

The healthiest breakfast can be customized, by the nuts and fruits of your choice, but this version has been working wonders for me since a long time.
